Introduction
Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in joining the Board of Barcud Housing Association or Care & Repair Powys at such an exciting and pivotal time in our journey.
Barcud is a progressive, community-focused housing association operating across Powys, Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, and Pembrokeshire. We are proud to own and manage more than 4,000 homes, deliver a range of essential services to our communities, and support over 300 dedicated colleagues committed to excellence in everything they do.
As the parent organisation, the Barcud Board plays a critical role in ensuring our continued success. Our new Board Member and Co-optee will help to guide the delivery of our strategic objectives, safeguard our assets, and uphold our financial viability in line with regulatory expectations.
Our subsidiary, Care & Repair in Powys, makes a significant difference in the lives of older and disabled people, helping them to live safely and independently in their own homes. Through partnerships with local agencies, we provide advice on unclaimed benefits, energy efficiency, and practical adaptations that improve mobility and wellbeing. The new Chair of Care & Repair will play a key leadership role in championing our mission and values, driving governance excellence, and ensuring the successful delivery of our strategic aims. They will work closely with existing and new board members who will contribute to the governance framework and support the effective oversight of our strategic objectives.
As a Board Member, you will play a key role in ensuring strong governance, legal and regulatory compliance, and strategic alignment with the wider Barcud Group. You will help set and uphold our values, vision and long-term objectives, while overseeing risk, financial integrity and operational effectiveness. We welcome applicants stepping into a board role for the first time, provided they can bring insight and experience that contribute to the business’s needs.
If you are passionate about strengthening communities and improving lives, I warmly encourage you to consider applying for one of these rewarding roles. Together, we can make a lasting impact across the region and shape a brighter, more inclusive future for the people we serve.
With best regards,
Alison Thorne – Chair of the Barcud Board
